The History of TourTools
TourTools® was originally developed and designed by computer programmer and veteran tour operator, John Kamm (TourTech Systems, Inc.). As president of Kamm Tours for 11 years, John was an active industry volunteer, serving multiple terms on the National Tour Association board of directors, a term as president of National Tour Marketing Services, 5 years on the Ohio Travel Association board of directors, and 5 terms on the NTA’s Technology Advisory Committee as chairman.
After several very successful decades at the helm of TourTools®, and with retirement in mind, John Kamm sold TourTools to a fast-growing software company in N.E. Ohio called Adatasol, Inc. in 2017. Adatasol immediately invested significant time and money to develop a major upgrade to TourTools® – optimizing the technology under the hood, modernizing the interface, and releasing TourTools v4 the following year in 2018. During this time TourTools® v4 was deployed to many new customers as the software was rigorously tested and refined.
In the Spring of 2020, COVID-19 hit and rocked the tour and travel industry. The impact on Adatasol and TourTools was severe as well. In efforts to cut overhead costs and provide a path forward for the software and its many struggling customers, Adatasol sold TourTools® to, then, VP of Operations, Arin Preston and her company DataVast Technologies. Arin has a BSIT and an MBA from Colorado Technical University and is a certified FileMaker developer with over 20 years of experience developing and supporting custom database solutions like TourTools®. The entire TourTools® staff came along in that transition and they continue to support the clients that have come to love and rely on them.
